Special Event Promotes the 1891 Club

1891 club ice cream camperThe 1819 Club held its annual kickoff event on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. The event, which was held near the Science and Math building, was attended by current 1891 Club members and students interested in learning more about the club.

Two Roosters Ice Cream truck was there to serve ice cream and students enjoyed a socially distanced coloring activity with sidewalk chalk.  Members of Alumnae Relations, who oversee the 1891 club, wrote “love for all, hatred for none” and the students colored the words to create beautiful artwork for the campus to enjoy.

“Even though the event looked different from past years, with all of us wearing masks and staying six feet apart, it was nice to see new and familiar faces enjoying time with one another on campus again,” says Taylor Wilson Twine, ’13, assistant director of alumnae relations and club advisor.

The 1891 Club is a student alumnae association that was founded in the spring of 2014 and is devoted to helping current students prepare for lifelong relationships with the College as partners, advocates, and investors. This student alumnae organization strives to spread awareness of Meredith College traditions, history, and the importance of alumnae giving.
