Service and Leadership Opportunities for Students

The Office of Student Leadership and Service provides numerous opportunities to develop and put into practice students’ leadership skill and to connect students into the community.
Below are some of the upcoming programs hosted by the Office of Student Leadership and Service. Encourage your student to participate! For more information, email leadershipandservice@meredith.edu.
Sophie Lanneau Women’s Leadership Development Program Fall Enrollment
Practice effective leadership and inspire positive change through the Sophie Lanneau Women’s Leadership Development Program! This self-paced program guides students in developing, enhancing, and practicing their personal philosophy of leadership. Through the Sophie Lanneau Program, students explore the basic concepts and historical perspective of leadership as well as the relationship of self to others and the community. Students engage in leadership experiences that support their academic, personal, and career interests and equip them to lead while at Meredith and beyond. For more information and to enroll, students should attend a program information session and orientation session.

SPLASH! Into Service
Kick-off the school year by giving back and connecting to the local community through SPLASH! Into Service. Students are invited to join in for a fun-filled half day of service on Saturday, August 25. Students will participate in community service projects with other Meredith students and learn about community initiatives in the Raleigh area. To participate, students should register to attend through the Office of Student Leadership and Service. Online registration will be made available beginning in early August. Transportation is provided for off-campus project sites.
Best of the Triangle
Each fall, Meredith students are welcomed back to campus with the Best of the Triangle community fair which highlights local businesses and community agencies nearby campus. During this event, students can meet local business owners to learn about their products and services as well as discover ways to volunteer with the many non-profit community organizations. The Best of the Triangle connects Meredith students to the local community and encourages them to explore all that the Raleigh area has to offer. The 2018 Best of the Triangle Fair will be Wednesday, August 29 from 10 a.m.-noon in the Cate Center.
LeaderShape® Institute at Meredith College, May 2019
Meredith College will host a session of the LeaderShape® Institute in May 2019. The Institute is a highly interactive, energizing, six-day leadership development experience designed to teach participants to lead with integrity and engage in intentional self-discovery through interactive workshop sessions, small group discussions, and team building exercises. The Institute will take place in Fort Caswell, N.C. from Monday, May 13 to Saturday, May 18, 2019, and is open to rising sophomore, junior, and senior students. Round-trip transportation, lodging, and meals during the Institute are included with a $100 participant fee, financial assistance is available upon request. Registration will open in January 2019 in the Student Leadership & Service Office, 202 Cate Center.
