The Class of 2026 has selected the Campbell Corner as its Senior Class Gift project to provide support for a campus resource that meets essential student needs.
Located on the first floor of the library, the Campbell Corner offers free hygiene and household items, including dental and hair care products, feminine products, and cleaning supplies. The space was established to ensure students have access to everyday necessities so they can focus on their academic success.
The initiative builds on the work of Erin Campbell, head of circulation, who informally provided such items to students in need. Her efforts inspired the creation of a dedicated, sustainable space within the library to continue that support on a larger scale.
Riley Heeb and Katie Savell, senior class gift co-chairs, said the Class of 2026 chose to contribute to the Campbell Corner to help maintain and expand its impact for future students. Funds raised will go toward stocking hygiene baskets and ensuring the resource remains available long-term.
Heeb said the project was one of the most popular ideas from the survey sent to seniors to gather feedback on which project to pursue. Heeb, a student worker in the Carlyle Campbell Library, heard about creating Campbell Corner, so it felt like a natural fit for the senior class gift fundraising to support that initiative.
The Senior Class Gift is an annual tradition in which graduating seniors contribute to a project that benefits the College community. This year’s effort was promoted during Giving Day with a Senior Class Gift Power Hour in the Cate Center, which encouraged participation and raised awareness among classmates.
Seniors can contribute to the fund with gifts of any size. Donors who give $1 or more will receive a daisy participation pin to wear on their commencement cap, and their names will be recognized in the Class Day program and the fall issue of the Meredith Magazine. Those who contribute $20.26 or more will also receive a commemorative tote bag. The deadline to be recognized is June 30.
Heeb and Savell are continuing to spread the word about the project to their classmates.
“I would encourage seniors to consider a time when they needed something and did not have access to it, regardless of whether they had the financial means. This project is about supporting future students so they do not have to make difficult choices between essentials like food and basic hygiene products,” said Heeb. “By contributing, seniors can help ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to feel supported and cared for.”
Savell said the impact that the senior class leaves behind through their gift reflects their commitment to the Meredith community.
“Every contribution, no matter the size, adds up to something powerful. It’s not just about giving; it’s about showing that we care about each other as a Meredith community. Years from now, seniors may not remember every assignment or test, but they will remember the difference we made together,” said Savell.
The senior class gift is organized through the Meredith Fund, and Carissa Anderson, Meredith Fund leadership giving officer, says the goal is not only to raise funds but also to build a sense of class unity and shared legacy.
By supporting the Campbell Corner, the Class of 2026 hopes to leave a meaningful gift that ensures future students have access to the basic resources they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
