President Sapp’s First 30 Academic Days at Meredith College
- Published
President Aimee Sapp recently completed an early milestone in her term as Meredith’s leader – her first 30 academic days at the College.
This period officially started with her August 12 Opening of School address during Faculty/Staff Planning Week, followed by a whirlwind of Meredith events.
Some highlights include Move-In Day, hosting a reception for parents and families of new students, and taking part in traditions like the president’s reception for incoming students.
Sapp has also enjoyed opportunities to meet her new community
“What a wonderful, wonderful experience the past month has been. I’ve met amazing students. I have worked with really caring and generous faculty and staff who love working with those students,” Sapp said. “I’ve met amazing members of the Raleigh community and connected with a powerful group of alumnae who care so much about this place.”
These interactions are a priority for Sapp as she begins her role as Meredith’s ninth president.
“As a leader and as an academic with a background in communication, I think my first and most essential task is to be a good listener. It is important to me that I have lots of conversations in this first year,” Sapp said. “I plan to learn as much as I can about the story of Meredith – discovering what our strengths are and what we do well – so that we can build on those strengths and chart the future of Meredith College.”
