In celebration of Meredith College’s 125th Anniversary, Founders’ Week was packed with activities for students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and friends of the College.
As part of the celebration, Meredith College held its first 24 Hour Giving Day on Tuesday, February 23. Meredith challenged alumnae, parents and friends to participate in this campaign known as “Make it Count for Meredith.” The original fundraising goal of $125,000 was met within 12 hours. At noon, President Jo Allen declared victory and challenged the College community to double the goal to $250,000.
With more than 1,700 donors representing all constituent groups, the final total of gifts made during the 24-hour challenge totaled $282,000.
Donors chose a gift designation, and areas included the College’s greatest needs, The Parents Fund, financial assistance and scholarships, athletics, study abroad, student programs, as well as specific funds chosen by the donor.
Three generous families of Meredith students made challenge gifts, all designated to The Parents Fund, to fire up the competition:
Dr. and Mrs. James Lorentzen - $2,500
Royce and Bonnie Everette - $5,000
Harrison and Margaret Marshall - $5,000
A total of 119 parents made a gift during this 24-hour challenge.
Parents Project Update
This year, The Parents Fund is committed to raising money to support program enhancements and facility upgrades to the Fitness Center in Weatherspoon Gymnasium. Thus far, we have raised $47,000 towards our goal of $50,000. Gifts received by June 30, 2016, will be included.
Honor your daughter and all Meredith Angels by making a gift to this important endeavor. Thank you for bringing us Beyond Strong!
