November 2019 Student Account Reminders from the Accounting Office

Meredith’s Accounting Office shares the following important reminders about account access, billing, payment options, and tax form information for parents and families.

Account Access
Student account information is available online through Student Self Service. Proxies can access Student Self Service here: https://mcis.meredith.edu

Proxy access must be provided by the student for parents to review the account. The student must also reset forgotten passwords. If your email has changed, please have your student update it so that you can receive billing information.

Spring Semester 2020 Billing Information – Important Dates

As of November 10, 2019:

  • Pre-registered students and proxies can view student accounts for spring online on or before Nov. 10 and continuously throughout the semester as updates occur. We recommend that all students and proxies review the student account periodically.
  • Monthly payment plans are open for pre-registered students, requiring enrollment fee only. The first monthly payment comes due based on the plan you select (December 1 or January 1). Participation in a payment plan requires enrollment each semester.

December 1, 2019:

  • Payment for spring semester tuition and fees is due in full by December 1, 2019 to secure classes. If you have enrolled in a payment plan for spring, you do not need to do anything further.

Spring Semester 2020 Payment Options for Pre-registered Students

Secure your student’s spring classes by completing one of the following options by Dec 1:

  • Pay online in full with credit/debit card (convenience fee applies): https://mcis.meredith.edu
  • Pay online in full with e-check (ACH) (no convenience fee): https://mcis.meredith.edu
  • Mail a check: Make checks payable to Meredith College and mail to Accounting Office, 140 Johnson Hall, 3800 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC 27607.  Be sure to include the student ID# on the check.
  • Enroll in a monthly payment plan: Monthly payment plans are available through Official Payments for five monthly payments (Dec 1 – Apr 1) or four monthly payments (Jan 1 – Apr 1). Online enrollment:  https://payplan.officialpayments.com  (convenience fee applies for credit/debit card; no fee for ACH/e-check)
  • If your spring balance is covered in full by loans and scholarships, you do not need to make a payment. Please refer to the student’s award letter for complete information.

Important Tax Information for Calendar Year 2019: Form 1098-T

The 1098-T form is an annual statement that reports the amount of qualified education expenses paid during the calendar year. The purpose of the form is to assist in determining eligibility for certain education-related tax credits under the US Treasury Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997.

Students must have a valid social security number and address on file in the Registrar’s Office by December 1, 2019 in order for a 1098-T to be issued. If you have moved, be sure to update your address. Students who have filed the FAFSA will already have the SSN on file, no action is necessary.

You do not need a 1098-T unless you are filing for these credits.

Forms will be mailed on January 31 from the Accounting Office to the address on file.  If you have not received your 2019 form by February 15, 2020, contact the Office of Accounting for a duplicate form.

Current students may elect an electronic form in lieu of the paper form. Please log in to Student Self Service (https://mcis.meredith.edu ) and elect the electronic version. If you elected electronic in prior years, you do not need to do it again. A notice will be posted to the Student Portal when the electronic forms are available.
