New Trending Reads Section in the Library

Over the past few years the library has been building up our young adult fiction and graphic novels collections. The titles we chose in these areas were in direct response to student requests on our surveys. In addition, several English classes addressing censorship and visual narratives are drawing on both graphic novels and young adult literature.

As we got these books in, they went directly into our general collection located on the second floor of the library. Mixed in with all of our other books available for check out, these specific types of books were difficult to locate and browse. Over the summer our reference staff worked to rectify this issue.

Now on the main floor, by the reference section, we have created a new area called Trending Reads. All of our graphic novel and young adult titles will now be located in this area. When you look up a title from our Books & More tab, these titles will be noted as being in the Carlyle Campbell Library Trending Reads section.

Also in this area, another new trending reads section is devoted to our Very Short Introductions collection. We were able to purchase these titles with a gift from the Leslie Syron Endowment Fund. These books from Oxford University Press cover topics ranging from autism to Vikings. Curious about quantum physics? The avant-garde? Or maybe the Russian Revolution? When you pick up one of these books on the topic of your choosing, you can definitely expect to learn something new!

We hope you will come over and scan our current titles in our new Trending Reads section. We also have more coming in thanks to a generous donation from the Friends of the Library. If you have a suggestion for a title you think we should have, please let a librarian know or you can fill out this online purchase request form.
