Message from the Alumnae Association President

Hello Fellow Angels!

I am writing to you still basking in the afterglow of last month’s campus festivities  as we celebrated Meredith’s 125th birthday!

I am sure you have seen the Facebook photos and email blasts about the daily events — they were all wonderful. But the most gratifying part of the week for me was the number of alumnae who participated each and every day. From Betty Webb’s splendid lecture about the English Department's Big Three and the opening of the City of Raleigh Museum Meredith Exhibit on Monday to the Beyond Strong Gala on Saturday night and all the other events in between, alums old and young were out in force. And of course the fact that 91% of the 1700+ donors on Giving Day who raised more than $283,052 in 24 hours were alumnae spoke loudest of all. You are just the best!

At Friday’s convocation Dr. Jo Allen paid alumnae the College’s highest compliment by awarding the Woman of Achievement Award for 2016 to all 19,000 of us. When you have a chance, drop by the Alumnae House to see the beautiful obelisk commemorating this honor. It is yours!

I told someone I thought the 125th anniversary celebration week was one of the greatest weeks Meredith has ever had. Knowing how much our alma mater means to all of you makes me so proud to be your president and so hopeful for our future. I know we will still be here 125 years from now and just wish I could be here to see it.

Thank you so much for your support.  We still have a good way to go to reach our 75 million dollar goal for the Beyond Strong Campaign but I have no doubt now that we will make it.

I hope to see all of you at Reunion Weekend. Dr. Allen would love to have all classes participate this year in honor of our 125th anniversary. So even if it isn’t your reunion year, bring your classmates, stay on campus with us and celebrate!
