Meredith Recent Graduate Wins NCAFCS 2020 Student Unit Award 

Kelly Fox, ’20, a recent graduate of Meredith College, is the  NC Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Student Unit Award recipient for 2020.

At Meredith, Fox majored  in Family and Consumer Sciences and pursued a teaching license for grades 7-12. She served as the NCAFCS student unit president from 2019-20 and vice president of the Meredith Association of Family and Consumer Sciences from 2019-20, having been an active member since her freshman year.

Fox was nominated for her deep dedication and passion for Family and Consumer Sciences and for her outstanding academic achievements. She has excelled in academics, service and leadership exemplified by her involvement in a variety of volunteer and community activities such as Habitat for Humanity, Hispanic Educational Summit, Tutor at Neighbor to Neighbor for the Millbrook United Methodist Church, Children’s Ministry Teacher at Lifepointe Church, and Bugfest at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

In addition to serving as a leader in MAFCS, she has also served as Chief Fire Marshal, a Black Student Union Student Life Representative, Meredith Educators Club Historian and Publicist, and ASID Freshman Representative. Fox is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and Kappa Nu Sigma Honor Society. According to her sponsors, she is articulate, poised, enthusiastic about the field, and is well deserving of the Student Unit Award.
