Meredith Mentors Bulletin Board Contest

In an effort to promote Meredith Mentors, the Office of Alumnae Relations partnered with the Residence Hall Association to sponsor a bulletin board contest within the residence halls on campus. Residence Assistants (RAs) were able to create a bulletin board for their hall that highlighted the Meredith Mentors online platform. Entries highlighted users on the platform, ways in which alumnae can support current students, networking steps, and much more. From A League of Their Own to Hamilton and even The Jungle Book, resident assistants used informative, fun, and creative ways to highlight the many benefits of Meredith Mentors.

Following completion of the bulletin boards, the Residence Hall Association facilitated an online voting contest for resident students. Nearly 200 resident students voted in the contest, and Sam Bowes, RA for 1st Faircloth, won. Her The Jungle Book themed bulletin board featuring Mowgli and Baloo was a favorite amongst the students. To celebrate her victory, residents of 1st Faircloth were treated to a special hall social.

On creating her design, Bowes noted, “I tried to think outside the box and wanted to use a movie that represented a mentor and mentee relationship that would catch the eye of students.  I hope the bulletin board introduced residents to Meredith Mentors and how users on the profile can help them with anything they need, like a resume.”

Ultimately, the goal of this project was to educate students about this wonderful resource, encourage them to sign up, and then start exploring the community.  There are thousands of alumnae willing to help and support our current students, and those alumnae are only a click away.
