Athletic Director Jackie Myers and her staff collaborated with the Office of Alumnae Relations to host the first all-sport Alumnae Athlete Reunion on Saturday, March 7. More than 30 former Angel athletes returned to campus, along with several former coaches, to remember past achievements, learn of future plans and to cheer for current spring teams in action during the day.
During the brunch Myers delivered an athletics update, including launch of the new Avenging Angels fundraising membership club. Current tri-sport student-athlete Danielle Lee shared a personal testimony of her experience as an Avenging Angel. Guests also had an opportunity to watch the Meredith lacrosse, softball, and tennis teams compete during the USA South opening weekend.
Meredith’s 11 overall wins during the 2014-15 basketball season marked the program’s most successful year since 2006. The team’s 10-9 USA South finish placed the team in third in the North division to secure a bid in the conference tournament quarterfinals.
Sophomore Jessi Hayes earned an All-Conference first team selection, along with an All-Sportsmanship honor. Hayes ranked in the top-five in three-point and free-throw shooting percentage and led the Avenging Angels offensively all season.
