Meredith Alumnae & Friends Travel to UK for British Intensive Program

A group of Meredith travelers visited the United Kingdom from December 28, 2025, through January 6, 2026, for the British Intensive program.
There were 29 participants, including alumnae, faculty, staff, and friends of the College. The group toured several museums, Windsor Castle, and Parliament, along with attending a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. They saw Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe.
Participants report that they enjoyed the program.
Ally Cefalu, ’22, said being able to celebrate the new year in London was a special experience.
“The British Intensive was a wonderful opportunity to experience England during a special time of year. Ringing in the beginning of 2026, surrounded by the history, art, theater, and amazing food in London, is something that I will treasure for the rest of my life,” Cefalu said. “The trip was only enhanced by the attending faculty and staff, as well as my fellow travelers. We bonded over our shared love of learning and travel, and how Meredith connects them both!”
Olivia Slack, ’22, appreciated getting to travel with her former faculty members, Betty Webb, Cathy Rodgers, and Emily Howard.
“We ate well, stayed in a convenient location, and were encouraged to go beyond the surface when learning about the art and history we saw. It was a privilege to travel again with our former professors and mentors, now friends,” Slack said. This kind of opportunity is what makes the Meredith experience the most special, even years after graduating. And I am so happy knowing that our participation helps support international programming and travel abroad experiences that open minds.”
Being able to travel with fellow alumnae made the British Intensive fun for Madison Sholar, ’22.
“During our trip, I was able to meet alumnae from across North Carolina and the country, eat at least four different types of international cuisine, see three different plays, explore London’s exquisite markets, and experience many of the art pieces I learned about at Meredith in person,” Sholar said. ”I also traveled with my three Meredith roommates and got to make even more fun memories with them! I am thankful Meredith hosted this kind of experience.”
Molly Perry, ’22, also enjoyed traveling with old and new friends from Meredith.
“I’m so glad I participated in the British Intensive. Our group activities and excursions were thoughtfully chosen and so much fun,” Perry said. “Getting to travel with my peers who have remained close friends, other alumnae who became new friends, and trusted Meredith faculty was a real full-circle moment. This experience highlighted the Meredith community’s commitment to friendship, lifelong learning, and global citizenship.”
