Library Offers Some Fun and New De-stressing Events for Students

It’s hard to believe it’s already that time of year when finals are upon us. The library is looking forward to offering some new de-stressing events for students, along with ones that have proved popular in the past.

Just as the Thanksgiving break comes to an end, on Sunday, December 1, at 6 p.m. the library started its 24-hour schedule. You can see the library’s full 24 hour schedule and holiday schedule here. As students buckle down until the wee hours of the morning, we will be wheeling around a “Snack Attack” cart again so they can have a little pick me up as they burn the midnight oil.

We are also thrilled to be offering, not one, but two therapy dog events that will be happening on the ground floor in the Freeman Room. Laura Burke, and her therapy dog Finnegan, will be joining us on the last day of classes, Wednesday, December 4 from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Mary Johnson, and her gentle giant Lewis, will be joining us on Reading Day, December the 5 from 10-11:30 a.m.  Students, faculty, and staff are welcomed to stop by and de-stress with these wonderful animals.

Two new events we have planned are a Prize Wheel table and a “Grab a De-stressor and Go” display. We will have the prize wheel set up for the first time on the last day of classes, Wednesday December 4 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Students can spin the “wheel of fortune” and win goodie bags, headbands, highlighters, and some fun other surprises as well!  Next to the prize wheel table, we will set up a grab and go table of good de-stressors for our students. We will have some bookmarks to color, CDs, DVDs, trending reads books they can check out, as well as new games we have ordered. Our collection of new games will include Azul, Unstable Unicorns, and Quacks of Quedlingburg to name a few. We will also have the Nintendo Switch out along with some of the games.

Please let your students know that they can come to library for their studying and research needs, but also that they can come and de-stress here as well!
