Meredith College’s Katie Burnet garnered Division III Chesapeake All-Region second team from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. The IWLCA recognized 256 student-athletes across eight regions.
This spring's USA South Conference Player of the Year, Burnet helped her team to the 2014 conference championship and a NCAA tournament appearance. In just its second year of existence, the Meredith lacrosse program continues to earn significant recognition.
Burnet, of Apex, N.C., topped the NCAA Division III national statistical rankings this season for total points and goals scored. With two seasons of intercollegiate eligibility remaining in her career, Burnet compiled a two-year total of 195 points with 141 goals and 54 assists.
During the conference tournament in April, Burnet set new conference individual season records in points and goals. In the first round NCAA tournament match at Susquehanna University, Burnet posted a share of the game-high goals and assists with six and three, respectively, and remains atop the USA South leader board in points, goals, shots and caused turnovers.
