How to Support Your Student’s Career Exploration

Happy New Year! We hope the spring semester is off to a strong start for your students. The Office of Career Planning will be offering a full slate of career and employer-related programming throughout the semester to support your student’s career exploration and relationship development with workplace professionals. We are excited about our upcoming Industry Employer Panels — a new addition to our calendar this year! Our large-scale recruiting events will continue to be held in a virtual format this spring.

We encourage your student to meet with a career counselor on our team and schedule their appointment early in the new year. Our calendars fill quickly and we often operate on a waiting list toward the end of the semester. Please have your student check Handshake for appointment availability and to be proactive in their career planning process!

As we begin the new year, OCP continues to commit to creating equitable recruiting processes on behalf of our students and alumni. This includes ensuring that job, internship, and interview opportunities are vetted, shared widely, and made accessible to all students and alumni via Handshake, our centralized recruiting platform. We follow and ask that our employer partners abide by the Principles for Ethical Professional Practice as established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Faculty partner with us and share internship and job resources from OCP, so we also regularly share the NACE Faculty Guide to Ethical and Legal Standards in Student Hiring as a way to promote ethical recruiting practices to the Meredith community.

Please share the following events with your students and encourage them to attend!

  • Industry Employer Panel Series: OCP is excited to announce a brand new event series for the spring semester: Industry Employer Panels!
