Meredith student Lauren Hopper is one of 13 students to receive a scholarship from WithIt's the women's leadership development network for the home and furnishings industries.
Along with a tuition scholarship, students receive an all-expense paid trip to WithIt's annual professional conference. Conference participation affords students the opportunity to meet and network with women from the industry while building upon skills they can use in their pursuit of a career within the industry.
"The students were an impressive group of applicants -- this provided a challenge to decide which candidates to award scholarships to," stated Megan Barrett, WithIt Scholarship Vice President. "We are excited to see how the thirteen scholarship recipients grow as professional women."
Since its inception in 1998, WithIt's foundation has awarded over $110,000 in tuition scholarships to qualified young women and men in universities across the U.S. who are pursuing majors that impact the home and furnishings industries. In addition, WithIt's student mentoring day during the fall High Point Market has brought well over 1200 students to market for a comprehensive program which includes round tables and showroom tours.
WithIt was formed in 1997 for women in the home and furnishings industries in order to support their multi-dimensional career paths. The non-profit network is based in North Carolina and supported by leading companies across the industry including their Vision and Platinum sponsors: International Market Centers, Heritage Home Group, MicroD and Myriad Software and Twin Star Home. WithIt's purpose is to encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education and networking opportunities for professional women in the home and furnishings industries.
