Fall 2017 Updates from Financial Assistance

Meredith’s Office of Financial Assistance shares the following important dates and reminders for 2017-18.

2018-2019 FAFSA Filing Process
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1, 2017. However, the Meredith College priority deadline to apply for financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, work study) is still March 15, 2018.

Meredith recommends using the IRS Data Retrieval tool (DRT) to transfer 2016 tax information onto the 2018-19 FAFSA form. To file your FAFSA, please visit fafsa.ed.gov. It is important to note that filing the FAFSA form is absolutely free. After you file, you will receive a confirmation email from the FAFSA processor (Department of Education). This will allow you to know that your information will be transmitted to Meredith from the FAFSA processor. Once Meredith receives the information, we will notify you if any additional documentation is required. Current students are awarded financial aid after spring semester grades are posted in May.

Please be advised that failure to complete this process may result in cancellation of their NBSE award.

Check Your Student Account
The Financial Assistance Office encourages parents and students to view their student account in Web Advisor to verify that their aid has been applied to their bill. Parents who do not have access to view their daughter’s student account can be added by the student as a Proxy. Students whose aid is not appearing on their bill should contact the Financial Assistance Office to determine if something is missing or to check to see if they have submitted a signed statement accepting their aid.
