In this issue we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in English and political science, and share news about the Fall Wellness Festival and new Meredith sponsorships on UNC-TV.
Associate Professor of English Laura Fine published an article, “‘Make Them Know’: Jesmyn Ward’s Salvage the Bones,” in The South Carolina Review. Fall 2016. Vol. 49, No. 1: 48-58.
Assistant Professor of Political Science Whitney Manzo was quoted in an article in The Christian Science Monitor about the political ramifications of President Obama nominating the first Muslim American to the federal judiciary.
Visiting Professor of Political Science David McLennan wrote an opinion piece published in Congressional Quarterly Researcher on the topic of “Is Donald Trump a Populist?”
Seventeen Meredith faculty and staff met with Meredith’s national media consultants during a two-day story assessment visit, September 12-13. This annual visit by DJC, a higher education media relations firm that specializes in pitching faculty experts and academic trend stories to national media outlets, is part of an ongoing project to raise Meredith’s visibility.

Fall Wellness Festival September 28
The Fall Wellness Festival is an interactive event that allows the Meredith community to explore the eight dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. This event is open to faculty, staff, and students.
Wednesday, September 28
Wellness Festival runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Courtyard of SMB/Cate/Harris
Faculty and Staff can earn 10 Wellness Points for attending. Counts as an academic/cultural event in General Education for students.
Meredith Sponsoring UNC-TV Shows
Meredith College is again sponsoring programming on UNC-TV this fall. Look for Meredith’s What is Strong? promo during the new season of Masterpiece on Sunday evenings this fall. The College is also sponsoring the new season of A Chef’s Life, Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. Watch this new promo to see how our graduate programs in nutrition are Going Strong.
