Faculty/Staff Accomplishments and Departmental News 5/27/20

In this issue, we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in communication, marketing, and sociology. We also share a reminder about how faculty and staff can contribute to enrollment and retention projects.

Vice President for Marketing & Communications Kristi Eaves-McLennan was named a 2020 Faculty Star for CASE District III conference held in February, where she led sessions on new revenue sources for small schools, sticky topics in communications, and how IA and marketing can work together. To qualify for the Faculty Star list, conference presenters must have an overall evaluation score of at least 4.5 on a 5 point scale. https://www.case.org/districts/district-faculty-stars/2020-district-iii-faculty-stars

Associate Professor of Sociology Amie Hess and Assistant Professor of Sociology Kris Macomber published an article titled “My Parents Never Read My Papers, but They Watched my Film: Documentary Filmmaking as Feminist Pedagogy” in the journal Gender and Education.

On May 18-19, Professor of Communication Teresa Holder facilitated conflict management training for a group of 20 N.C. ministers as part of the Methodist Leadership Academy, a two-year leadership development program. The leadership fellows normally spend two days in Raleigh several times throughout the year in very interactive and experiential sessions. Rather than cancel or postpone in May, the leadership academy asked Holder  to reimagine the training to work in an engaging, online format.
