The 1819 Club held their annual kickoff event on Thursday, September 6, 2018. More than 300 students attended the event on Meredith Beach and tie-dyed an exclusive t-shirt, enjoyed a treat from one of three local food trucks, and learned more about the 1891 Club. Among the food trucks were Two Roosters Ice Cream, who served ice cream blended with alumnae-owned Southern Sugar Bakery’s cookie dough.
“The event, which is held each fall, is in its fifth year and continues to be a great success in promoting the 1891 Club,” says Taylor Wilson Twine, ’13, assistant director of alumnae relations and club advisor.
The 1891 Club is a student alumnae association that was founded in the spring of 2014 and is devoted to helping current students prepare for lifelong relationships with the College as partners, advocates, and investors. This student alumnae organization strives to spread awareness of Meredith College traditions, history, and the importance of alumnae giving so that the education, joy, and personal growth one experiences as a student can be preserved for the future generations of Meredith College women.
