Event Planning Class Visits Fresh Affairs

Lyn Graves, Owner of Fresh Affairs, welcomed Meredith’s Introduction to Special Events Class earlier this week. Graves, an industry icon, spoke to the students about design, running a small business, and the importance of listening to clients.

Graves gave the students a tour of his massive facility and also gave tips on how to speak to clients in a way that gains their trust. He was able to teach the class on tricks florists use to keep costs down while still creating a beautiful arrangement.

Students were able to ask questions and take a look at works in progress for upcoming events and projects. Prior to visiting Fresh Affairs, the students had been learning about design and all the elements that go into the production of an event – including all the visual details. Being able to see the tireless work designers and florists put into creating a client’s vision is invaluable to planning events.
