Entrepreneurship Events Planned for February

Meredith’s School of Business will sponsor two events focused on entrepreneurship in February 2018.

On Monday, Feb. 12, Meredith students are invited to participate in an Elevator Pitch Competition. The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Johnson Hall elevator.

This is a business idea pitch competition during which students can pitch a business or nonprofit idea. Each participant will have :42 seconds to pitch a business idea to a judge on the elevator for a chance to win one of three $100 prizes for Best Idea, Best Pitch, and Judge’s Choice. Women business owners will be on hand to talk with students. There will also be food and games.

All Meredith students, both undergraduate and graduate, are welcome to attend. No RSVP necessary, just show up and pitch. Contact Dr. Nathan Woolard for questions at nawoolard@meredith.edu

The Meredith Social Entrepreneurship Challenge is back for its second year with a grand prize of $4,000!

The business or nonprofit idea development competition is accepting submissions at www.meredith.edu/MSEC until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, February 22. The submission form will require students in groups of 1-3 discuss their business/nonprofit idea relative to Concept, Feasibility, Market Potential, Business Model, Competition, and Public/Societal good.

The top 15 submissions will be selected as Semifinalists and take part in competition events in March and April.

On Wednesday, April 11 the campus community is invited to attend a Community Showcase from noon to 1 p.m. in Johnson Hall. During this event, each semifinalist will create an interactive poster and be on hand to talk with attendees about their idea. At the conclusion of the showcase, finalists and the competition winner will be announced.
