Most students and faculty are giving themselves that final push towards finals as the semester comes to end and everyone is gearing up for the holidays. Usually with the extra studying, researching, and grading, comes a lot of stress. Most people on campus know that the library has study rooms and a second floor designated as a quiet study area to help you concentrate on all of your tasks. And, yes, we have resources in the library and online to help you ace what you are working on, but did you also know that the library has items to help you de-stress in the midst of all of your hard work?
The library has puzzles and we just got in a lot of new games for your much needed, and deserved, breaks and enjoyment. The puzzles are located upstairs on the second floor by the folios. The new games are on a table right as you take a left upon entering the library. We got these games after students suggested the ones they wanted from our Reflect on This display. Some of the new titles we have are Exploding Kittens, Pictionary, Settlers of Catan, Balderdash, Cards Against Humanity, and Bananagrams to name a few. We also have the classics like Chess, Life, and Monopoly.
Along with the new game titles, we also have quite a few new DVDs you can check out. You can go to a galaxy far, far away and lose yourself in the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can discover the Secrets in Their Eyes starring Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. Need some Joy in your life before the holidays, if so, we have that Jennifer Lawrence feature film too. Also to gear up for spending time with your family, you can watch Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in Sisters. You can check out the library’s New DVDs page on Pinterest for a more complete list of our new titles.
The library will also offer the service of being open for 24 hours starting on Sunday, December 4 at 1 p.m. through Saturday December 10 when we close at 10 p.m. We will reopen on Sunday and then will be open 24 hours through Thursday, December 15. If you feel like studying until 4 a.m. or taking advantage of our beanbag chairs for a nap, you will have ample opportunities during the days or until the wee hours of the mornings. On that Thursday, December 15, we will close at 6 p.m. but will reopen on Friday, December 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please check out our calendar for all of our holiday hours and closings.
