Connect with OCP to Explore Career Development Opportunities

The Office of Career Planning (OCP) is busy preparing for the upcoming academic year, and we look forward to welcoming your students back to campus! As a team, we are eager to continue integrating relevant career development topics in our campus programming and counseling with students. As the world of work evolves, we continue to explore the definition of professionalism in the workplace, what it means to show up in your place of work authentically, and strategies for pursuing work at organizations that encourage a diverse sense of belonging. Our hope is that students who engage with our services will benefit from our strengths-based approach to personal and professional development.

We are gearing up for the fall employer recruiting season, and have a full slate of professional development programming planned. We are excited to begin reintroducing students to in-person employer events in the coming semester! Be sure to have your students mark their calendars with the following opportunities:

Gen Z Networking Night (In-Person) | Wednesday, September 14, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Students can focus on honing their skills by joining us and a select group of employer partners for an evening of networking and conversation.

Employer Resume Blitz (Virtual) | Monday, September 19, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Students meet 1-on-1 with an employer representative to have their resumes reviewed.

Career Fest (In-Person) | Wednesday, September 21, 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
We are excited to be back in person for this event. Student attendees can explore job and internship opportunities while connecting with a wide variety of employers, including SAS, GlaxoSmithKline, WakeMed, Northwestern Mutual, and the Miami Heat!

Mock Interview Week (Virtual) | October 17-21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Students have the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with an employer.

As we head into a busy fall recruiting season, OCP remains committed to creating equitable recruiting processes on behalf of our students and alumnae. This includes ensuring that job, internship, and interview opportunities are vetted and made accessible to all students and alumnae via Handshake, our virtual recruiting platform. We encourage campus recruiting strategies that eliminate barriers and promote an inclusive process. Be sure your students are plugged into Handshake, and encourage them to download the app to stay on top of upcoming career-related events, view job and internship postings, and connect directly with employers and our team!

As students get started this fall, we invite them to connect early with OCP! Our career counselors are available to meet with students to help them navigate and explore options, gain experience, and focus on developing critical career-readiness competencies. Students who engage in career exploration and decision-making early have more time to participate in multiple professional experiences, allowing them the ability to experiment and reset when needed. Ultimately, this leads to more confident, informed career decision-making.

We encourage you and your students to follow OCP on Instagram to stay informed about upcoming events, learn more about career development strategies, and celebrate student achievements within the Meredith College community. We hope your students will connect with OCP early and often! Encourage them to reach out to us with questions. We look forward to working with them in the coming year!
