The Office of Career Planning would like to extend a warm welcome to your students! Whether your student is beginning her freshman year or her last year with us, our team is available to support her as she navigates her career path. Being intentional about the career exploration process is critical, and we encourage your students to start working with our office early and often. We’re available for drop-in meetings, one-on-one counseling appointments, and will look forward to speaking with your students in the classroom, too.
We have an exciting lineup of employers who will be visiting campus over the course of the semester, including Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, Credit Suisse, MetLife GTO, Lenovo, NetApp, SAS, and Merrill Lynch. Recruiting for interns and full-time positions begins early in the fall semester; encourage your students to get started now! The Fall Internship Expo, taking place September 20, is a great opportunity for students to connect with 25+ employers right here on campus. If your student is undecided on a major or future career possibilities, speaking with employers who visit campus is a perfect way to begin exploring options.
OCP’s Angels Suited for Success Professional Development Certificate Program kicks off in September, providing students with the opportunity to personalize their professional development in an intentional way by completing one professional development activity each month during the fall semester. In partnership with StrongPoints, this year’s programming will include navigating bias in the job search, and learning to budget like a boss. An important part of professional development is practice, and we provide students with the opportunity to do just that through our Mock Interview Week! In October, employers (many of whom are Meredith alumnae) will join us to conduct practice interviews for students. It’s a great way to ease nerves, practice common questions, and make connections with employers who hire our students. Encourage your students to sign up via Handshake!
Upcoming opportunities for students to make connections throughout the semester include:
All of our programming and employer events are posted via Handshake, our interactive recruiting platform which is open to all Meredith students. Encourage your student to download the Handshake app to stay on top of upcoming career-related events and view job and internship postings. We hope your students will visit the OCP early and often! We look forward to helping her navigate options, explore opportunities, and create a plan. To stay up-to-date on our career fairs, events, and opportunities throughout the academic year, we invite you to follow OCP on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
