Class of ‘74 Endowment Signed

On November 6, 2015, seven members of the Class of 1974 gathered to sign their endowment for the Meredith Legacy Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship is the highest honor available to incoming freshmen, with a total estimated value of $170,000. It is a full, four-year, merit-based scholarship that is awarded based on superior academic achievement, intellectual promise, and leadership ability.

The scholarship was established in 2007 and is made possible through generous support from alumnae. To date eight graduates have been supported, with four students currently receiving the scholarship.

Deborah Jordan Matthews, ’74, who rallied her classmates to participate in this endowment says, “The combination of elements in a Meredith education has enhanced the quality of our families, communities, and careers. The Class of ’74 Legacy Endowment was created to support young women in achievement of these elements.  It’s our way of paying it forward.  We appreciate this opportunity to support future generations of strong women.  We challenge other classes to do the same!”

Fifteen members of the Class of 1974 have joined together to create this class endowment.
