Avenging Angels Athletics Update – March 2025

Avenging Angels Athletics shares an update on basketball, indoor track and field, lacrosse, softball, tennis, and golf.
Meredith College Basketball peaked at the right time, besting rivals William Peace, 64-46 at home on February 4. Meredith earned a 43-41 victory in a close contest against Greensboro College. Before their final home game, the Avenging Angels celebrated four seniors Rylie Wade, Kylie Wade, Pamela Mock, and Kendalyn Dixon. Meredith sent the seniors out with a win, 65-60 over Virginia University of Lynchburg. The team’s season came to a close in the first round of the USA South Conference on February 25.
Meredith Indoor Track and Field had a strong showing at the Liberty Open. The Avenging Angels recorded 17 personal records at the meet. Abigail Clayton broke the freshman indoor school record in the 400 meters. She finished the 400 in 1:01.57, good for 31st place. Meredith competed in the USA South Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday, February 28 at the JDL Fast Track.
Spring sports have started for the Avenging Angels!
The road to eleven straight Women’s Lacrosse USA South Tournament Titles began with a 15-4 win over Oglethorpe on Saturday, February 22. Reese Walker totaled eight points on five goals and three assists. Her strong performance earned her USA South Offensive Player of the Week. The Avenging Angels hit the road for games against Rhodes and Hendrix College in Tennessee. Meredith’s next home match is against Randolph-Macon on Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m.
Softball opened the season against the eighth-best team in the country, Virginia Wesleyan, and followed that up with two wins over Guilford College. Meredith swept the Quakers 7-3 and 13-3. Lillie Davis pitched a complete game and recorded seven strikeouts to help the Avenging Angels earn their first victory of the season. Meredith hosted back-to-back doubleheaders on March 1 and 2 against Averett and Randolph Macon. Softball will play in the Triangle Collegiate Softball Classic on March 7.
Tennis’ next home match is against Methodist on Wednesday, March 26 at 3 p.m.
Golf travels to its first two spring tournaments in March. The Avenging Angels compete at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational (March 3-4) and then again at the Jack Ingram Invitational (March 24 -25).
