The Meredith College athletics department launched a new online store last month featuring a host of logo options, customizable features, name brand gear, and a wide variety of products. Check it out at shopavengingangels.com!

Meredith basketball’s four-year senior Jessi Hayes will close out her career this month as a USA South leader in free throw shooting and a member of the 1000-point club. The Avenging Angels wrap up the regular season at home this week beginning with Averett tonight and a doubleheader weekend versus Ferrum and Mary Baldwin. Hayes will be recognized before Sunday’s 2 p.m. contest.

The Meredith tennis team opened their challenging non-conference spring schedule last month with NCAA Division I Elon and followed with the University of Mary Washington Eagles, ranked nationally in November’s final Division III fall poll. The Avenging Angels continue with three home matches beginning this afternoon with Shaw and continuing in two weeks with Barton and Chowan, all Division II opponents. After a spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., the Angels open the USA South schedule at home March 22.

Head Softball Coach Kim Scavone and her staff return a seasoned Avenging Angels squad with just one senior among 14 veterans and seven newcomers and hope to return to the USA South Tournament this April. The Avenging Angels open the 2017 schedule at home this weekend with Guilford and Shaw and face Christopher Newport February 18. The Captains are one of four NCAA Division III top-25 teams on Meredith’s schedule this spring.

The reigning USA South Regular Season and Tournament Champion lacrosse Angels open Saturday at Mary Washington. The Eagles rank nationally in the preseason women’s lacrosse poll as well. Meredith will pick up Guilford in a midweek road match before opening at home February 25 versus the Roanoke Maroons. Head Coach Lauren Scott’s seasoned Avenging Angels squad sits atop the USA South preseason poll and will look to sweep the conference schedule once again.

Meredith’s newest sport of track & field, launched last spring, added several indoor meets to this year’s schedule. Freshman sprinter Essence Thomas has already made a name for herself and for Meredith indoor track. Thomas currently ranks in the Division III South/SE Region top-30 performance list in 60m and 200m and the top-40 in 400m of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Sophomore Demonica Stanley joined Thomas this week in the 60m top-40 list for her performance in last weekend’s Vince Brown Invite at Christopher Newport and ranks 41st in the shot put with a distance of 9.05m. The Avenging Angels open the outdoor track & field season March 3 at UNC-Pembroke.
