- Published
Meredith College President Aimee Sapp, along with faculty members Amie Hess, Stephanie Little, Kent Lyman, and Jessica Thorpe, were inducted into the academic honor society of Phi Kappa Phi on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Jones Chapel.
Also inducted were 53 Meredith students and nine alumni, including C. Richard McBane, Jr., 2019 (MBA), media technician, and Morgan Johnson, ’20, associate director of the Student Success Center & Transfer Student Support Specialist, Student Success Center.
Dr. Mitchell Brown, Curtis O. Liles III Professor of Political Science at Auburn University, delivered a keynote speech. Through a series of personal and family stories, Brown revealed the complexity – and the satisfaction – that accompany the pursuit of learning that “makes the world a better place.”
This is the second class of inductees into Meredith’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest interdisciplinary honor society. Members plan and carry out an annual student-led service project and may compete nationally for a range of grants and awards. The Phi Kappa Phi motto is “Let the love of learning rule humanity.”
