125th Celebration Closing Event Scheduled

Mark your calendars to commemorate the end of Meredith’s 125th anniversary year in February 2017.

On February 27, 2017, a closing celebration will be held at 10 a.m. near the Thomas Meredith marker by Jones Auditorium. This event, held on the College’s Founders’ Day, will feature the presentation of a Meredith time capsule that was created by the Student Government Association and the 125th anniversary steering committee. A reception will follow in the rotunda of Johnson Hall.

The College observed its 125th anniversary throughout the 2015-16 academic year. In February of 2016, students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and other friends of the College were invited to a series of special events.

This weeklong celebration included a 125th anniversary convocation address about Thomas Meredith presented by Professor Emeritus Roger Crook. Other highlights were a Meredith College exhibit at The City of Raleigh Museum, a poetry contest, and the unveiling of a new historical marker and a new Meredith flag. Meredith also held its first 24 Hour Giving Day on February 23. The week ended with the announcement of the goal for Beyond Strong | The Campaign for Meredith.
