The Fall 2016 Meredith Poll explored North Carolinians’ perceptions of women in both politics and law enforcement. How safe do North Carolinians feel? Do they believe men or women are better suited to political leadership? How do they perceive women and men in law enforcement?

To learn the answer to these questions, The Meredith Poll surveyed registered voters in North Carolina. The Meredith Poll asked questions about voters’ views on safety, respect for law enforcement, and women and men as law officers and chiefs. Questions also focused on perceptions of women and men as political leaders.

The survey was conducted using a live-caller, dual frame (landline and cell phone) survey of 487 registered voters of North Carolina between September 18-22, 2016. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.43 percentage points for registered voters.
