The Criminal Justice and Substance Use Disorder Certificate prepares criminal justice managers to more fully understand addiction and its effects on the field of criminal justice. The courses are offered regularly, allowing you to complete this certificate in one year. Through this 12-hour certificate, you will

  • gain an understanding of what addiction is
  • be introduced to the effects that substance abuse and chemical dependency have on society
  • learn about the different drugs that are used (both legal and illegal)
  • learn how to work with people who have physical and psychological addictions
  • examine the interconnections of substance use disorders and mental health

CJ - 611: Understanding Human Behavior and Crime (3 cr.)
CJ - 612: Drugs, Crime and the Criminal Justice System (3 cr.)
