Soccer to Face Maryville in USA South Semifinals

With the final divisional playoff game now complete, Meredith College and the remaining teams will face off at Maryville College for the USA South Women’s Soccer Tournament semifinals and championship rounds next week.

East #4 Methodist will take on West #2 Covenant at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, followed by East #2 Meredith versus the host Maryville Scots, the only remaining #1 seed in the tournament. Follow the live action at the USA South Women’s Soccer Tournament Central.

This year marks Meredith’s sixth consecutive appearance in the conference semifinal round. The Angels advanced just once during the series but lost in the title match in 2013 to Piedmont. Since the college joined the USA South in 2007, Meredith soccer captured six league championships but just one tournament crown back in 2008. This years share of the East Division Championship was the fourth consecutive for the Avenging Angels.

Maryville closed out the regular season 6-0-1 with a 2-2 tie to Piedmont in mid-October. Scots Shannon Reagan and and Bailey Sipos lead the league in goals scored, and Abbey Coleman ranks first with a save percentage of .871. Meredith goalie Jaisa Loch sits in second with a .868 save percentage.
