Meredith College Hosts NC Political Science Association Conference

The 47th Annual Conference of the North Carolina Political Science Association (NCPSA) was held at Meredith College on February 23, 2018. The conference was hosted by the Department of History, Political Science, and International Studies, and coordinated by Assistant Professor of Political Science Whitney Ross Manzo, who was elected NCPSA president for 2018-19.

The keynote address was presented by Dr. Tom Brunell, of the University of Texas at Dallas, who spoke about the current state of redistricting and gerrymandering law.

The conference was attended by more than 65 people from institutions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, and Nebraska. Eleven Meredith faculty and staff officially participated, and six Meredith students presented their work during the conference.

Meredith alumna Cristy Villalobos, ’17, won the Troutman-Rainey Undergraduate Paper Award for “Public Opinion of Voter Identifications in North Carolina,” research she conducted while she was an undergraduate.
