Meredith College and Eastern N.C. Career Alliance Host Annual Spring Career Fair

The Meredith College Office of Career Planning hosted the Spring 2018 Annual Career Fair in conjunction with the Eastern North Carolina Career Alliance (ENCCA) on February 21. The event took place at the McKimmon Center.

Students and alumni from other ENCCA institutions, which include Barton College, Campbell University, Methodist University, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University, University of Mount Olive, and William Peace University, were invited to attend. Shuttle transportation was provided to and from the fair to Meredith students.

The College saw a record number of attendees among its students and alumnae with 120, the highest number of Meredith participants in the last 20 years.

More than 105 organizations were in attendance, including SAS, Enterprise Holding, the North Carolina Justice Center, the N.C. Department of Revenue, UNC-TV, the Autism Society, Girl Scouts, and Wells Fargo. Students also had the opportunity to learn more about the graduate programs offered by the schools in the alliance.

“While at the career fair, I enjoyed speaking to the representatives at the EPA booth,” said Barbara Teague, ’20. “I enjoyed going to the career fair and speaking to everyone. I value this experience and I plan on going to the fair again next year”.

Students looking to the future were given the opportunity to explore several possible pathways.

Among the students in attendance was Andie Woodson, ’18, who was looking for jobs and graduate programs in her respective majors of public health and biology.

“My goal is to be employed for a year and then go to grad school,” said Woodson. “I’m taking the year off to figure out where I want to be.”
