Meredith Alumnae Reconnect at Homecoming 2017

The Meredith College Alumnae Association welcomed approximately 400 alumnae back to campus on November 3-4, 2017, to enjoy Cornhuskin’ and Homecoming.

Homecoming was established last year as a way to reconnect alumnae to the College. The event features Cornhuskin’ activities on Friday and special alumnae programming on Saturday.

Friday activities included alumnae marching in the parade, viewing Cornhuskin’ activities in Jones Auditorium via livestream from the amphitheater, and an after party hosted by the Young Alumnae Board at East Village.

Saturday included a brunch in Belk Dining Hall with President Jo Allen, who gave a State of the College address and provided an update on Beyond Strong │The Campaign for Meredith.

After brunch, alumnae were able to choose from two sessions. Professor of Political Science David McLennan led a session on “Women in Politics after the 2016 Election” and Vice President for College Programs Jean Jackson, ʼ75, discussed Meredith traditions and tales. The day concluded with campus tours.

“In our second year, Homecoming has now become an annual tradition for the Alumnae Association,” says Hilary Allen, director of alumnae relations. “Alumnae love participating in the Friday evening event and seeing how much Cornhuskin’ may have changed since their time here. They enjoy hearing President Allen’s talk on Saturday morning. In addition, I feel alumnae gain an even deeper appreciation of the education they received at Meredith and the College’s traditions.”
