Admissions Department Holds Team Building Service Project

In between greeting campus visitors and reading Early Action applications, Admissions team members gathered during their lunch hour on December 15 to complete a community service project.

Set up on a table was an array of travel size shampoos, conditioners, lotions, washcloths, and toothpastes. Admissions team members created toiletry packages to donate to InterAct, a non-profit organization that works to end the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in the Raleigh community.

Admissions Counselor Lily Shore spearheaded the endeavor. She came up with the idea during travel season when counselors take their recruitment work on the road and stay at hotels where they can collect sample toiletries. Lauren Bader, data & application processor, and Suzanne Clayton, admissions counselor, set up an “assembly line” where team members could smoothly create the packages.

Accomplishing this service project while sharing and enjoying a cookie exchange was the result of the Team Building Committee’s effort to help team members connect with each other and have fun during a busy season of admissions work. Incorporating food during the task is always an added incentive to participate and the team thoroughly enjoyed the cookie exchange as well.
