Meg Thedford

“Meg Thedford – you and the class of 2014 are graduating from Meredith College. What are you going to do next?”

“I’M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!”

(You know that famous Q&A, usually asked when sports heroes win the big game…)

Meg, an interior design major, may not have won the Super Bowl – but she is pursuing her lifelong dream of working in the place where dreams come true. After graduation she’ll pack her bags and head to Orlando, where she landed a job as a main entrance cast member at Disney World.

It’s the perfect next step for someone who, when asked to describe her Meredith experience in one word, replied “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”

Meg has worked hard and used her strengths to achieve her goal. She’s taken on numerous leadership roles on campus, participated in on- and off-campus conferences, and done some serious networking.

The Broken Mine

She’s also stepped outside her comfort zone. Far outside. Like to the other side of the world.

She spent the summer of 2013 studying photography in Australia. It was a gratifying experience for the photography and studio art double minor. One of the photos she took while abroad – The Broken Mine – was selected for display in an art exhibition. It sold on opening night.

These kinds of outcomes have had a powerful impact on Meg. “All of these activities enriched my overall experience at Meredith and helped me grow my confidence as a leader,” she said.

Meg hopes her initial work experience with Disney – paired with her artistic spirit – will lead to professional growth within the company.

“One of my dreams is to work for the Disney Company in a creative position,” she said.

No doubt she’ll reach this goal by going strong (and maybe with a little magic).
