Meredith’s commitment to providing a strong education for teachers does not end at graduation. A number of professional development resources are available to Meredith teacher education program graduates and other area teachers, including adding areas of licensure.
Meredith hosts a annual conference for first-, second- and third-year teachers and their mentors at partner schools in Wake County, which host Meredith students for early field experiences through the student teacher internship. The conference enables Meredith to continue to provide support to graduates as well as to give back to partner schools that support our students and unique education program. All recent graduates are invited to attend.
For teachers who want to pursue a graduate study, Meredith offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) program for licensed teachers through the John E. Weems Graduate School. Specialties in elementary education, English as a second language (ESL), literacy, and special education (general curriculum). In addition graduate level coursework that leads to add-on Curriculum and Instruction Specialist is available.
