Profile

As a Department Assistant, Sallie Hedrick Bowman provides diverse and dynamic support to four different academic departments at Meredith College. She previously worked as the Production Executive for the North Carolina Film Office and was responsible for recruiting motion picture to North Carolina. Sallie was the Volunteer Manager for the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and in the Office of NC Governor Beverly Perdue, she was the Development Officer for the NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.

Prior to joining Meredith in 2019 Sallie was a Teaching Artist for the granted-funded Theatre4Change program, a partnership between the North Carolina Theatre and Wake County Public Schools that provides children with theatrical workshops on bully prevention and conflict resolution. In a past life Sallie was a professional actress, appearing in Tim Burton’s Big Fish, on Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill, and in a national tour of The Diary of Anne Frank as “Anne Frank”. A former dancer as well, Sallie performed in The Lost Colony on NC’s Outer Banks, and owned a successful business designing casual ballet tutus. She currently serves on the board for the Friends of the Carlyle Campbell Library at Meredith College and has previously served on the board for the Wake County Historic Preservation Commission.

Sallie graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and a Minor in Theatre.
