Lee Canipe serves as the senior pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte. Before coming to Providence in 2016, he spent twelve years in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, as the pastor of Murfreesboro Baptist Church. A native of Greensboro, he has also served churches in Durham and Savannah and, along with his wife, Hilary, spent a year on mission in Russia with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
With just a few exceptions, all the women to whom Lee is related, either by birth or by marriage, have been educated at Meredith. As such, he is deeply grateful for the college and glad to serve it as a trustee. His own education includes degrees from Davidson College (B.A.), Duke University (M.Div.), and Baylor University (Ph.D.).
Lee and Hilary and the parents of a daughter, Helen, and two sons, Watson and Peter.
