Donna Wilson Thagard, ’87

Profile

Donna Wilson Thagard earned a B.S. in accounting from Meredith in 1987.  She was president of Meredith’s Student Government Association (SGA) her senior year and has served as Class Gift Agent, Advisory Board member and Public Campaign Steering Committee member.

Thagard was senior vice president and corporate controller at BMC Stock Holdings, Inc., where she was responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and business process outsourcing activities, and retired in June 2021. She has substantial expertise in financial accounting, treasury, real estate transactions, integrating acquisitions into financial systems, controls, and compliance.  She joined BMC Stock Holdings, Inc in 1991 as assistant controller. Prior to that, she was an audit senior with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Originally a native of Clinton, N.C., Thagard is a Certified Public Accountant and has attended management programs at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Thagard is an active member at White Memorial Presbyterian Church serving as deacon, a member of the generosity committee, the bereavement care team, and the Presbyterian Women. She is an active parent at St David’s School serving as the treasurer of the St. David’s Warrior Club and the new family coordinator for the upper school. She mentors women in corporate and nonprofit leadership positions. She is a former board member of the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill. She and her husband, Leonard, have two sons.
