Dana Sumner is director of Career Planning.  In addition to her supervisory, administrative, and strategic planning roles on campus and in her office, Dana works as a career counselor, meeting with students and alumnae as they pursue their career goals.  She meets individually and in groups with traditional and nontraditional aged individuals on a variety of topics that include career planning and career transitions, strengths development, writing tailored documents, the job search, networking, and graduate school.  Helping clients reflect and be engaged in the process is one of the main reasons she feels called to do her work.  In addition, Dana partners with faculty and staff to present career related topics in the classroom.  Dana also spends time in her role making connections with professionals across industries to better understand hiring needs and trends and to develop relationships that will benefit Meredith students and alumnae. Before coming to Meredith College, Dana worked at Elon University, Appalachian State University, and Queens University of Charlotte.
