With our data analytics major, students have a unique interdisciplinary opportunity to blend a strong foundation of statistics, data science, and computer skills along with research design and applied analysis in their discipline of interest, such as business, exercise and sport sciences, psychology, and public health. It can also be an ideal second major for students who wish to develop these skills.

Our Data Analytics Degree

Many industries are increasingly analyzing data to make decisions and advancements. With effective data analysis, business professionals can more accurately predict trends, psychologists can gain a deeper understanding of human behavior, and public health professionals can make more precise interventions and policies. 

Students who earn a data analytics degree will learn how to make data-driven decisions using advanced data analysis techniques, setting themselves apart in the job market. Additionally, as a women’s college, Meredith provides an empowering and strengths-based environment to give students the confidence to develop STEM skills.

Bachelor of Arts in Data Analytics

Students earning a bachelor’s degree in data analytics must complete 33-56 credit hours, including 21-22 credit hours of core courses, nine credit hours of research design or applied analysis courses, and three credit hours of research.

  • Our students have pursued graduate and doctoral degrees in this field at schools such as the Georgia Institute of Technology and North Carolina State University.

Careers in Data Analytics

Data analytics is a growing area around the world as data has become more integrated into our daily lives. Many fields today require some level of data analysis skills, and having such skills can set candidates apart when applying for jobs

There is a wide range of job opportunities in data analytics in the Triangle and across the country. Data analytics are applied in essentially every field, including artificial intelligence, data mining, data visualization, education, finance, healthcare, political science, pharmaceuticals, and software engineering. Graduates of Meredith’s data analytics degree program will be prepared to enter a variety of fields and pursue graduate studies.

Jean Hinton, ’25, discovered a passion for data science through her classes at Meredith. By designing her own major, she will be the first Meredith student to earn a B.S. in statistical and data sciences.
