Meredith College Theatre presents NO EXIT by Jean-Paul Sartre
September 25 - 28, 2019 | 7:30 PM
September 28 - 29, 2019 | 2:00 PM
Jean-Paul Sartre’s philosophical expression on existentialism is a simple construct that may have been influenced by his experience during World War II during the German occupation of France. NO EXIT forces three people who cannot stand each other into a confined, uncomfortable space. Forever. Sartre uses the play to examine the issues of freedom, self-deception, time, choice, and existence itself. Director Steven Roten’s high tech conceptualization for this production is designed to shift perspective for the audience. A series of cameras and video monitors will offer the audience new ways to consume the play which reflect our own existence in today’s voyeuristic society.
