Jamie Jones, site manager at the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum, will present about the Sedalia Singers and Education in the Era of Jim Crow. The Sedalia Singers were students from Palmer Memorial Institute, a preparatory school for African Americans in North Carolina. The school was founded by Charlotte Hawkins Brown in 1902 and operated until 1971. The campus is now a state historic site.

This will also include a special performance by Meredith Chorale students.

This event qualifies as an academic/cultural event in general education. Sponsored by the Department of History, Political Science, and International Studies with support from the Diversity Council and the Office of the Dean of Students.
