As part of the Meredith College Documentary Film Festival, the following short documentaries will be shown in Carswell Auditorium. 

This event is free and open to the public. The Meredith College Film Festival is presented by the Meredith College Department of English, funded by the Mary Lynch Johnson Chair in English with cooperation from Carlyle Campbell Library.

2 p.m. Short Documentaries (58 minutes)

Buddy and the Treehouse (7:40)
A short documentary by local filmmaker Leslie Gray Baker about the creation of one man’s ideal adult treehouse. 

Cat Advocacy (6:59)
A short documentary by local filmmaker Kim Best about the attempts of a devoted cat caretaker to find a toy that will please his finicky cat.

Embrace (2:15)
This short documentary by Ashlyne Browne uses images to encourage viewers to see that they are much more than the sum of their negative thoughts.

Eva and Moe (8:00)
A short documentary by writer and producer Beth Davison using the footage of amateur photographer Moe Feld, taken during a 1936 trip with his wife, Eva, of family members in Poland and Ukraine later massacred by the Nazis.

Georgena Terry (5:54)
A short documentary by Amanda Zackem about Georgena Terry, founder of Terry Bicycles, who revolutionized the biking industry by creating a frame specifically for a woman’s body.

Janet Reno: The People’s Lawyer (11:24)
A short documentary by Catherine Orr and Elena Rue about former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno’s impact on the justice system, the lives of children and youth, and the nation as a whole. 

Soar (7:00)
A short animated film by Alyce Tzue about a young girl who dreams of flying and helps a miniature pilot in distress return to the skies. 

Meredith Doc Block (18:22)
Short documentaries created by Meredith College students and faculty.

Followed by a discussion moderated by filmmakers Camden Watts,’03, and Vivian Bowman Edwards with Meredith faculty member Kris Macomber.
