Minor in Women's Studies (18 credit hours)
Students may choose to minor in Women's Studies for different reasons. One may be as a way of focusing on women within their major discipline. For example, a social work major may want to give particular attention to the study of women's lives. A nutrition major may be interested in the relationship between women's nutrition and the cultural shaping of female identity. Another area may be business and economics, where a student might have particular interest in examining women's roles in the work force, or in corporate leadership. A student might be interested in a minor in Women's Studies to learn more herself by looking at how she has thought about and responded to issues and pressures that face young women growing up today. These are only a few of the possible reasons why you might choose to minor in Women's Studies.
Students who choose to minor in Women's Studies take the two core courses listed below. The remaining 12 hrs of elective credits may be selected in such a way that they give coherence and focus to their program of study.
