The Web and Library Resources
Libraries use the Web to organize and provide access to their resources in various forms, including online catalogs, research databases, and e-books. Although listed on the library Web site and accessed through the Internet, these resources are not Web sites themselves - they are, for the most part, traditional media such as books and journal articles that have been converted into electronic form. |
Part 3 of this tutorial showed that scholarly journal articles can be located and accessed through online research databases. Many scholarly journals provide access to their articles via their own web sites, but in most cases, these journals require a subscription or some form of payment to read articles. For this reason, it's best to search for journal articles using library databases, and use the Internet for researching such things as statistics, news, government resources, popular culture, and consumer information. |
