Tide of Hope Update Sessions Scheduled
The Tide of Hope Steering Committee invites the Meredith College community to attend one of two updates on the College's Sri Lankan relief projects. The sessions will be held in Dogwood B Dining Room on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 12:30-2 p.m. or on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in Dogwood B from noon to 1 p.m. Please bring your tray (or bag lunch) and join the discussions.
Dr. Betty Webb, John Rose and alumnae Rebekah Meek, '05, and Melissa Bishop, '99, returned from Sri Lanka on October 12. The purpose of their journey was to conduct on site visits with the three projects that Meredith has established there following the December, 2004 tsunami. During their time in Sri Lanka they visited the children in the Samanala Orphanage, met with the teachers and children in the Pelena School, and participated in several community meetings in the fishing village of Lovigahawaththa.
The information sessions will be an opportunity to hear an update of Meredith's work with these projects, to ask questions about the projects or tsunami recovery in Sri Lanka, and learn more about participating in the projects.
